Schools are integral to local communities. If regional infection is suppressed, cases among teachers and pupils will also be low, says Devi Sridhar, chair of global public health at Edinburgh University

– so it would make sense to adopt them in secondary schools where transmission is occurring.

Blanket routine testing for staff and students is vital if schools are to be opened

Which one?

SusanMichie Devi you always have your finger on the pulse - I have so much confidence in you.

Clinically vulnerable teachers should be redeployed to a role where safe working is possible or to be able to work from home. Sadly teachers in this category are being put at serious risk.

Ah, the latest puff piece from Devi... Amongst all the flowery language, it doesn't actually say very much new, nor does it put forward any meaningful or workable solutions. Once again advocates so-called 'Zero COVID', which has been proven not to work...

In the absence of robust Test Trace Isolate what about regular MassTesting staff + students? Catch asymptomatic cases circa 30% before entering School premises. New PCR testing have advanced to assess within 30min. Too late to test post symptoms.

Not possible sorry

My child’s school provided offline working initially. That is work sheets with teaching notes. If u have pc u can download, if not pick up sheets from school. Sheets sent to school for marking and feedback. Full online using google classroom was not as good. Printer needed

The question is how to do that

Great idea but it requires far greater organisation and competence than we have on our front benches at the present time. They had a whole summer to prepare. A whole lockdown, too. But our prime minister went on three holidays instead this year. As though it had been a quiet one.

Wow!!! Why did no one think of this? ❤️

Best way to stop coronavirus is not to let the fear Devi Sridhar peddles in your head in the first place. The virus is a viral fear she wants to plant inside your mind.

Or never shutting them in the first place?

superspreaders ..Awh history

*slaps forehead* Ah so that was it! Well alright then.
