The automatic suspension of monthly payments on all federally held student loans will continue through the end of the year.

Education Secretary Betsy DeVos is moving to carry out President Donald Trump’s order to pause student loan payments for tens of millions of Americans through year's end.

Department officials also plan to extend the CARES Act’s pause on collecting defaulted federal student loans until the end of the year. They will not seek to seize wages, tax refunds or Social Security benefits of people who are in default on their federally held student loans. Trump’s student loan relief will apply to roughly 40 million federal student loan borrowers. But as many as 9 million borrowers will continue to be excluded from the relief because the CARES Act and Trump’s executive action does not apply to federally backed student loans that are held by private lenders or their college.

Not forgiven

So when does this kick in because my son’s still says it ends on Sept 30

And hopefully we will get rid of her by that time.

Can we have an automatic suspension of Betsy DeVos!?

Good. Then we can get Biden in and start forgiving interest entirely

US forced to halt more payments that are designed to hurt the poor and vulnerable WSWS_Updates

Just forgive them all. God knows it's already hard enough to pay back the private ones.

Maybe somebody knows the answer to this. Since they are suspending payments, are they suspending the interest that comes with that payment? It’s 7% interest, a student loan doubles every 10 years. Criminal

No amount of money for temporary relief will get me to vote for 4 more years of chaos and national humiliation.
