Climbdowns, U-turns and calls for Gavin Williamson to resign resounded across Tuesday’s front pages following the education secretary’s apology for the exams algorithm fiasco that has marred the prospects of hundreds of thousands of pupils and unleashed a wave of anger in the direction of the government.

Where are the comments about the U turn in Wales under Labour?

Would it not have been simpler to go on teacher predictions and adjust grades according to what % teachers were ‘out’ on last years results to mitigate any inflation? Much simpler that this complicated algorithm.....

At this rate Boris will never get his Party in again at least for the next election!

A-level and GCSE results in England to be based on teacher assessments in U-turnOfqual standardisation model scrapped after outcry from pupils, teachers and MPs Now the distraction is over, can we go back to talking about the recession? You need to get the language right. 'Teacher grades' is too simplistic. They are centre grades. Some teacher grades would have been altered by SLT. Much better outcome but teachers need better protection here.
