Gavin Williamson seeks to blame Ofqual for exams debacle

Gavin Williamson has tried to lay the blame for the exams fiasco at the door of the regulator Ofqual after a humiliating climbdown that overturned up to 2.3m grades but left thousands of pupils in limbo.

He is spot on. They are the supposed experts. Well done Boris. Once again our so called experts are left wanting.

So. Teachers graded down because historically they inflated grades (especially in disadvantaged areas) and actually tried to be accurate this time but Ofqual didn't trust the teachers to be accurate so adjusted for the historical inflation by downgrading too. Well done everyone!

Why change a proven strategy

They don't seem to understand the buck stops with the said head of ministry, and ultimately the PM.

Williamson: As Education Secretary I have no responsibility for anything in education whatsoever.

It's always somebody else with this Government. Where there's no acceptance of responsibility there's no honour. Where there's no honour there's a basis for corruption. Where there's corruption it's always blamed on somebody else. It's always somebody else with this Government.

Just as they blamed PHE, scientists etc. Constant u turns due to the government’s incompetence. And still they cast blame rather than take responsibility
