Teachers and school staff members describe fears about the spread of the coronavirus and doubts that they will have the tools needed for protection.

"It's an impossible budget situation in Nevada in particular," Marianno said."I think that's part of why the decision was made in Clark County school districts to move toward distance learning to start, because it was becoming clear that, given rising case counts, it would be next to impossible to implement all of the demands that the union wanted to ensure their staff was safe.

Others named a variety of safety measures they hoped might at least help address their concerns. Among them: mask requirements, which some schools, smaller classroom sizes, upgraded ventilation systems and staff members to check for symptoms at the door. In addition to demanding at least $116 billion to implement new safety measures, they've asked districts to set benchmarks for COVID-19 transmission, including 14-day declines in cases and rates of positive tests below 5 percent, before even considering in-person classes.

Sounds like that one school system lost out. Ours took advantage, learned from it, became creative, found better systems for online studies and have a great schedule planned. Whoever you interviewed squandered their time because they never intended to try and do better. Too bad.

Two points: 1) there really needs to be more done to make teachers, parents and students feel safe going back to schools 2) to much time is spent complaining and not enough working together to figure this out (including the government). Other countries have figured it out...

These snowflakes need to get back to work

the thing about this pandemic is the more you go out and get exposed the more likely youll catch the virus, you think kids are safe being exposed everyday, their chances of getting it goes up really high, its not rocket science

Cosplay hazmat?

Let me teach! Unlock the doors open my room and invite my students in, I will be there!

Grocery store cashier's, cashier's of all types, bartenders all stand and work teachers can do the same. If they are that scared of children then resign or put them behind Plexi glass so they don't have any contact. Teach from a bubble 🤣

Then close down the schools and give funding to kids so they can find a teacher who wants to teach

'To Keep Campuses Safe, Some Colleges To Test Students For Coronavirus Twice A Week'NPR 8/15/20 U of Illinois, Harvard, Yale, Brandeis, U of Indiana all test students twice a week. Why can't public schools like in Germany? Answer: the money and the Fed doesn't believe in testing

The rest of us work daily without complaining,,, try it

Man, last time my kid was going to school teachers were spending their own money for things needed in the classroom and to help poor kids. Add a pandemic? And you jerkos don’t report any of it.

Are full hazmat suits part of that protection? Because cloth masks alone won’t do anything against an airborne virus. Your boy Fauci said as much back in the winter. As in pandemics preceding this one, herd immunity is the only answer

I was told by my liberal Governor that masks work so.........yeah

❗️COVID OVER❗️ in Sweden Right Under Our Noses

Schools should remain Closed during the Pandemic coronavirus

Thank goodness my BOE made the responsible decision to be virtual the first semester. After trying to work through other alternatives, they just wouldn’t keep students and staff safe.

There's just a solution: homeschooling
