Mask-wearing must be mandated in NSW high schools, an education union says, as the number of cases linked to the state's students continues to grow.
It's the highest daily increase of COVID-19 cases in NSW for almost four months, with 17 locally acquired cases being the highest number in that category since late July.The Independent Education Union says a move to mandate mask use for students and staff at senior schools is needed to prevent further outbreaks in schools.

NSW needs to up their testing
Children are relatively safe, we are seeing that schools are not. Kids take Covid home, it spreads etc. Teachers should have more say on class sizes and implementation of public health regulations within their school. Teachers are on the front line, they are at risk too.
I first visited mainland China in 1990. CCP mandated every child learned 3 languages in school - local dialect, either Mandarin / Cantonese......& English. 30 years ago they knew where they would be today. I wonder what they are planning for next 30...or 300 years? CCP COVID19

What stops public to wear masks? Why one have to ask Government to mandate it! Common sense is not so common. Respiratory virus- masks make sense. Choice is in people’s hands!
Most kids in Auckland are back to learning at home today....must be nice to have a leader that cares about the health of teachers, parents and students.

CLPickering It's an airborne virus. Aerosols... enclosed spaces... Masks may not be enough in Australia's typically rather crowded settings - in small classrooms with low ceilings.
When kids get covid they have a very low viral load and rarely pass it on. Hence why there are no kids on ventilators or even in hospital.
GladysB is like an ostrich with her head in the sand. Make the right decision and stop procrastinating. Look at NZ once again.
