This will go down well. 🙄

I read that year 11 will have only a few subjects to study. Then let's give them a repeat year. Kids have already missed out this year. Just run one year twice.

Aye fine parents for protecting their kids but do nothing about RobertJenrick cheating London's poorest borough TowerHamletsNow out of £50million pounds in tax cashforfavours

This guy is putting profit and economics before health

What price another u turn in October?

Very encouraging. Punishment rather than persuasive words.

Good luck with that... 🥴🥴

gavinwilliamson i assume the 'common sense' defence will suffice, if parents act in the best interests of their child (say, driving them 300 miles instead of sending them to school)? cumgate

Parents have a right to keep their children safe. I'd bet that these fines will be unenforceable if corona is still around.

I don’t have kids but giving there is a pandemic on this level of assertiveness seem batshit to me

C19th response to C21st situation. We need to move on, not back. More flexibility not less. More partnership with parents not punishments. But it won't happen.

GavinWilliamson - you can F—k off! they’ll go back when it’s safe !

Parents could be fined if they don't send their children back to school in September, education secretary warnsEducation Secretary Gavin Williamson says parents could be fined unless there is a 'good reason' for their child's absence. Fined for trying to keep your child safe?! These parents have every right not to send their child to school. This seems painfully obvious but doesn’t seem to have hit home for most in comments. I am fairly convinced the parents saying their children cannot to back In September will be the same people that have respected lockdown immaculately. What if the all enroll in schools in Castle Barnard don't get fined if you go there
