A person who attended Saturday's Black Lives Matter protest in Melbourne which thousands of others attended, has contracted COVID-19. The person developed symptoms in the 24 hours after the protest and may have been infectious at the protest

Treasurer Josh Frydenberg has said a report released by the OECD today predicting the Australian economy will contract by 5 per cent this year has a silver lining, with a rebound predicted in 2021.

"The positive news for Australia in this report is that Australia stands out as a leader in the economic recovery," Mr Frydenberg said, noting Australia's figures for contraction were smaller than other countries' forecasts. "This report does signal the economic challenges that Australia and the world face, but as we have success on the health front we are starting to ease restrictions," he said.

Too bad COVID isn't as effective as everyone thought

Arslan23233523 Karma.

So do whites

Great.

Idiots

How many people has this person infected walking around, shouting, screaming along. 10/1 no one listened and quarantined themselves as they were asked. 10/1 none of them have the app or bothered opening it. Everyone who comes out positive should be fined. We’ll be back in iso.

Why need to go out together to support? Any other better why to do it? Hiring helicopters to write all days in the sky.

And the Other 7

notgettingcovidmatters

I’m a progressive who is a supporter of BLM, but I object to more large scale protesting on purely health grounds. The virus is apolitical & affects minority groups disproportionately worse. We are so close to being where NZ is at with no restrictions. Then we can protest safely

Put Victoria in lockdown and shut the borders!

How much do these protestors care about indigenous lives when indigeneous Australians are in a higher risk category of dying of Covid 19?

implement a full lock-down and put everyone on dole

Lol - everyone who attended the rally must now assume they have been in contact with someone with the virus and should self-isolate for two weeks!😆

If only these imbeciles kept the spread among themselves, I would be more than happy to let Darwinism take its course.

How this protest was allowed to go ahead is beyond reckless!

Dan Andrews must resign DanielAndrewsMP

Daniel Andrews must resign

'It is unlikely he contracted the virus at the protest, however he would have been infectious while present.'

Wow. Well done.

Most people infected will have a mild illness and recover completely in two weeks. On average, it takes five to six days from the day you are infected. while those with more severe cases can take three to six weeks. Understand it from virologists

A virtue signaller is rewarded

With the statistics showing that 78% of deaths in custody are due to comorbidities, and the fact the indigenous Australians have comorbidities, is exposing Indiginous Australians outside prison to this deadly virus really looking out for them and their lives? You Reckless fools

“I will never attend a protest again”, too late mate. Imagine he/she pass on to their loved ones and killed him. Regret for life.

Well done fucktards...inconsiderate creeps.

At this point do you think anyone cares idjuits.

Yipee! Let's lock down everyone right now! That will send even more small business to the wall, especially those who have received no assistance from gov whatsoever because they are mums & dads who pay their PAYG at the end of the year. No cash flow boost, no Jobkeeper, NOTHING!

Awful news. Hope no further cases. I am all for BLM but rally should will be held at a later date, especially for VIC.

Coronavirus updates LIVE: Global COVID-19 cases surpass 7.3 million, Australian death toll stands at 102Deputy Chief Medical Officer Michael Kidd has said there was risk of significant coronavirus transmission at the Black Lives Matter protests over the weekend, warning Australia is yet to know the impact of the protests on community transmission. As there has been in cafes, grocery stores and street markets Why is this story being 're-published' on twitter (at least) daily? Of course it will be easy for the government to blame any spikes on BLM protests, rather than the nationwide relaxation of restrictions that occurred in the week prior. If there’s no spike then we can be assured that due to incubation periods while in lock down it’s been contained and time to go back to business. Lift restrictions

C-Virus should have never happened & Could've been stopped at the source
