I’m truly amazed by comments on here, it’s basic maths that is stopping the children going back. My school 360 chn, told to have groups of 15 not 30, so we need space now for 720. Government knew this from the start and built parents hope up.
Probably on balance the safe decision to make but that begs the question as to why it's ok to open pubs or consider 1m distancing.

You can have face-to-face conversations online. You can safely socialise online. This is the future. This is what should be taught to children now and not concentrate on trying to push them back into school. A minimal risk is still a risk, no parent wants to take a chance.

Getting more pressure to return to work as government is starting to open up business. Are employers really going to accept that parents can't return until their children can return to school? Or are they just going to give those jobs to people that can actually get to work?
So unfair for the children that are not in the year groups of children that are already back. What about them. What about their education

Was too difficult to implement for schools with the distancing guidelines - for the larger schools that had already opened for the Foundation&Yr.6 they had to cut down to 2-3 days max for each pupil, add in the other years renders it near-pointless.
The easiest & safest thing to do would be to teach every pupil over zoom but apparently that’s not possible.
