Shadow Early Childhood Education Minister AmandaRishworth says she is concerned about how families will be able to afford childcare during the economy’s gradual recovery from the coronavirus pandemic.

Shadow Early Childhood Education Minister Amanda Rishworth says she is concerned about how families will be able to afford childcare during the economy’s gradual recovery from the coronavirus pandemic. The government has announced childcare fees will resume from July 13, alongside a $700 million transition package. “While there is a month time of transition, I don’t think any economist is saying our economy is going to be back thriving in a month’s time,” Ms Rishworth told Sky News.

“When you talk about the rescue package, yes on one hand they are giving extra money to centres [but] on the other hand they are taking job keeper away from centres,” she said. “It’s taking with one hand while giving with the other, so it is pretty disingenuous.” Ms Rishworth said Labor wanted to see “a sector that has a high quality, accessibility and affordability”.

AmandaRishworth If you are able to return to work, it will be just like pre- corona. If you're not able to return to work ,you don't need childcare.. Am i missing something?

AmandaRishworth They just require endless money please, just keep giving it to them, seems reasonable.

AmandaRishworth That's the same Shadow Minister, who is a member of the Labor Party, the same party who's leaders have been complaining that the budget will be in deficit after all the Virus expenditure. Pack of Hypocrites, pure and simple.

AmandaRishworth How is this even newsworthy? You either can or cannot afford child care... It's not a right or basic need, it's a fucking luxury.

Government rolling back childcare subsidy 'jeopardising' early education | Sky News AustraliaEarly Childhood Australia CEO Samantha Page says she was surprised to see government assistance for the childcare sector be removed so promptly when many families were still struggling with the impact of COVID-19.\n\nEducation Minister Dan Tehan announced on Monday childcare fees would resume from July 13 with workers in the industry no longer eligible for JobKeeper payments. \n\nThe government also announced it would allocate $700 million in a transition package to help families adjust. \n\nMs Page told Sky News there was an expectation that the childcare subsidy would be increased 'or for families to be given a safety net of guaranteed access'. \n\n“Educators and teachers have been on the frontline from the very beginning of this pandemic, they’ve worked right through providing support to families in essential worker roles and to vulnerable and disadvantaged families, I think it’s such a pity that we’re jeopardising that,” she said. \n\n“There was a strong consensus across policy experts and academics and providers working in this space that we really needed to address affordability for families.' \n The government can't just keep printing more money to repair the budget deficit... all that does is devalue like China!!! It's not a bottomless pit of money!! Go and get a better paying job or better working conditions, ditch the 90K landcruiser and the mansion... not hard!!!
