Trees that 'could live for over 500 years' planted in Trinity College Dublin to replace iconic maples

This morning two Ginkgo trees were planted in Library Square @tcddublin . I’m told they could live for 500+ years, and the leaves will come on in a few weeks. pic.twitter.com/kpcB3QqNRLTRINITY COLLEGE DUBLIN today planted a two new trees to replace the university’s iconic Oregon Maples.

This morning, two Ginkgo trees were planted in the college’s Library Square to replace the Oregon Maples.

Two years planning

Never got to hug either one before they went to the great big botanical gardens in the sky.

Gingko trees are astonishing and wonderful! Excellent choice, TCD.

so replacing trees that did live for 150 years and could've lived longer if they hadn't been chopped, with trees that could live up to 500 years unless they're also chopped down and replaced with other trees that 'could' live for X years 🙄
