| The National Education Reform Initiative is of the opinion that the suggestion to re-instate the"Pengajaran dan Pembelajaran Sains dan Matematik dalam Bahasa Inggeris" by the acting Education Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad is a regressive move.
According to a study by Pemuafakatan Badan Ilmiah Nasional , PPSMI had caused massive disadvantage to 75 percent of students in the category of"low to average" standards in three subjects, English, Science and Mathematics. Unesco’s statement in 2003 alongside a policy paper in 2016 had iterated that conducting lessons in a mother tongue language had proven to be the effective medium for the first six years of schooling.
There they go again jezlai with their anti-PPSMI rants. Fact is PPSMI got abolished because Umno-BN Government 2004-2018 was anti-English. They were pro-Bahasa Jawi and anti-PPSMI. That's why they abolished PPSMI.
Think about it as feeding 2 birds with 1 spoon.... when in university, english is use as primary language... so better start early n also tool to improve english
Its not really failed, not matured enough to see the result.... scrapped after few years
To IPPN (whoever you are) Stop holding back the nation with your regressive mentality because you are afraid to get out of your shell.
PPSMI regressive? But these so called edu experts offered no solution to worsening English proficiency stds. Biz as usual is not solution. Msia will continue playing catch up in fields of science & tech. High grad unemployment & structural stagnant econ will stay unresolved.
