A Filipino-Yemeni student will be the first Filipino participant to compete in an international pageant in January 2020.

Abdullah “Ab” Sharif Cheng, 22, a mechanical engineering student at Far Eastern University, will vie for the title of Mister Tourism World 2020 which will be held in Monte Kristo State, Malta from Jan. 3-12, 2020.

Cheng earned the right to represent the Philippines in Mister Tourism World 2020 after he became one of the winners of Mister Grand Philippines pageant under its president and national director, Meg Perez. Cheng added: “At first, both of them had a hard time to communicate because they have different culture and language. There was no common language until they established the language of love to communicate with each other.”
