There will be road repairs happening during the summer holidays

Roads are scheduled to be fully resurfaced following a number of requests from residents to have work done. Mayfield Avenue in Oswaldtwistle is scheduled to be resurfaced during the school holidays to minimise disruption to St Mary’s RC Primary School.

The work is currently scheduled to take place on weekdays only, between Tuesday, October 8 and Monday, October 21, with Stanley Street due to be closed throughout the day, before reopening again at 5pm. A spokesman for Lancashire County Council said: “Our highways teams are making the most of the summer to carry out a number of vital improvements to our roads, which includes resurfacing the full length of Mayfield Avenue.

“Residents are due to receive a letter this week, and we will be posting advance warning signs to alert others to the work. We will try to minimise disruption to residents, however there will be times when vehicle access will not be available due to the nature of the work. The spokesperson for Lancashire County Council continued: “As part of our programme of improvements to roads in Hyndburn this year we’ll be resurfacing the full length of Stanley Street in Oswaldtwistle. The work is currently scheduled to take place on weekdays only, between Tuesday 8 October and Monday 21 October, with Stanley Street due to be closed throughout the day for the work to take place safely, before reopening again at 5pm.
