Queen Camilla appeared in great spirits as she visited Christ Church C of E Primary School on Wednesday. The Queen was met by pupils Marina, nine, and Lexi, eight, who had practised curtsies.

Queen Camilla appeared in great spirits as she visited a primary school's Literary Festival on Wednesday.

The royal paired her chic ensemble with beige heels and accessorised with a gold necklace and a Van Cleef & Arpels bracelet. She added to pupils Leo and Hannah, both nine: ‘It looks pretty good to me. Did you do bits of this? It’s very clever. I think that’s brilliant.’ Camilla posed with all the students during her visit to Christ Church C of E Primary School in London, to celebrate their Literary FestivalPupils showed the Queen a stunning victoria sponge cake which the made for her arrival

‘Can I sit on your table?’ she asked one group as she perched alongside them. ‘It might break! You might see me go down, there will be a crash.’ Marina, one of the girls who was showing the Queen around, told her that her father was sponsoring her £4 a book. ‘It’s going to take you off on millions of adventures all over the world and the more you read as you grow up it will be bigger and better for all of you. So keep on reading and by the time you are grown up you are all going to be stars. So well done and thank you very much for having me.’

Vicki Perrin, CEO of Her Majesty's The Queen's Reading Room literacy charity has shed light on what the festival means to the Queen, while fondly referring to it as her 'baby'. Camilla spoke to pupils as she visited a Reception class and heard about the Shepherd and Sheep reading initiativeCamilla was guided by pupils Lexi, and Marina, during her visit to Christ Church C of E Primary SchoolCamilla was shown the special artwork made by pupils for the coronation of King Charles III

It comes after Camilla and King Charles held a lavish state banquet for the Emperor and Empress of Japan at Buckingham Palace last night. The King looked in high spirits as he was filmed laughing and smiling with employees ahead of the special occasion. Both he and the emperor will give speeches at the banquet.
