A Sunshine Coast man who almost tore off his thumb with an angle grinder has endured a weekend of hunger and fear as he spent a third day waiting for emergency surgery.Mr Kennewell cut through his thumb in an accident at around noon on Friday, and by Monday morning had not received emergency surgery
Sunshine Coast University Hospital has apologised for the delay which it blames on other patients needing more urgent attentionCarpenter Jarrod Kennewell, 27, had been helping a family member by using a grinder at a property at Peachester at about noon on Friday when he turned away for a moment as a wasp hovered by his face.
"I just took my eyes off the grinder for a split second and it grabbed into the material and jumped up onto my hand," he said."I just looked down and thought 'oh s**t I've knicked myself here'.
Has he tried a hospital?
Utter bloody disgrace that this fellow is still waiting. Move him somewhere now where he can get treatment. If he was a politicians relative I bet he get treated quick smart. Rules for some, hey.
'delayed due to other, more important surgeries' WTF, how is a near-amputation not a priority
Probably shouldn't have almost chopped off his thumb then...
Poor guy, his name’s not emma alberici
🙄😲 WHAT
Could only happen in Qld

That’s shocking, the thumb is pretty important! Surgeon’s would know that better than anyone. Hope all goes well with the healing when they finally get it fixed.
If he was more careful, he wouldn't be in this situation.
he should realise that he isn't as important as AnnastaciaMP getting her way and spending buckets on changing the name of a hospital instead of putting those funds into doctors and nurses. QLDLabor on the nose again.
Tell them you're an illegall immigrant, you'll get the best care and surgery today.
