College athletes are one HUGE step closer to getting paid ...

the NCAA's top governing board has just voted unanimously to allow athletes to profit off their image and likeness.

"We must embrace change to provide the best possible experience for college athletes," chairman of the board"Additional flexibility in this area can and must continue to support college sports as a part of higher education. This modernization for the future is a natural extension of the numerous steps NCAA members have taken in recent years to improve support for student-athletes, including full cost of attendance and guaranteed scholarships.

The guidelines also say students must not be specifically compensated for athletic performance but rather their image and likeness as used for marketing purposes.

'NCAA Allowing Students To Get Paid'. Love it! Wonderful news! Any student over 18 years of age is considered an adult and should be given opportunity to earn wages, regardless if full-time or part-time student.

About damn time! You got talented young people who are so poor, they can’t even afford new sneakers!

Great. Now let’s cut scholarships for those athletes getting paid and create new scholarships for non-athletes who will put their educations first.

Then no need for scholarships. Give those to students who use their brains and not muscle.

BIG, HUGE mistake!!

NCAA football and basketball video games alone will bring in tens of billions of $$. Too bad all the good players will be skipping college basketball.

Hmmm why suddenly? Weren’t they adamant on making sure this doesn’t happen? Did they figure out how this can make them money?

Its about fucking time!

So now they are going to tax students on their scholarships 👍🏼

As much money as these athletes bring to these schools, hell yeah let them make some money!!!

Not mad at that at all

The beginning of the end

If they get paid to be a STUDENT ATHLETE I guess they can pay for their own tuition.

This is great for well liked female athletes who may not have the opportunity to play professional sports. They will never make millions like the men do, so this is great!

They need a stipend and then the college should fund a retirement plan. This way they have something coming in when the aches and pains come in old age. NCAA

'vote'? Like they really had a choice. LoL

King James did that

BTW people it's getting paid for endorsements, photos, autographs, etc. Not to actually play....so who cares the college makes plenty of bank off these kids so they should be able to go out and use THEIR name to get paid.

Then take away their free ride, scholarships, or both 🤦🏽‍♀️

Mmmm I thought a free education and all the perks was a pretty good trade off. Wondering if the schools will lower the admission standards.....even more....for athletes, since getting an education won’t be a priority!😟

as if they had a choice with CA passing the law that they have to pay student athletes.
