Brexit sparks boom in applications for politics courses

Ted Hollas and Harry Souter are A-level politics students at York College and both are hoping to study the subject at university.

"I like to know what I am talking about and studying politics helps with that. It is rewarding to be able to have a discussion with somebody and explain how you feel." "I think it's the most exciting time to study and to teach politics since the rise of the libertarian right in the 1980s and the collapse of the Soviet Union," he says.

Robert Lamb, head of politics at Exeter University, says:"Our students have chosen to study politics because they are increasingly desperate to make sense of the tumultuous and bewildering times in which they live.

Because we don't have enough MPs brainwashed by Oxford PPEs?

For the love if GOD do a good history course instead ;)

Raab and Barclay need to sign up for this.

I bet it as, Money for Nothing

From labour and Lib dem Politicians ' what does Democracy mean?' 'What does honour the result mean?'

Surge in student politics more like...

I hope they learn first what democracy is & how they should respect it....unlike that disgraceful rabble in Parliament!

Let's hope they replace bunch of BBC news correspondents. Apart from Katya Adler of course

In woke leftist universities...

That’s because now they know they don’t have to do a honest days work but still get paid to basically do what they want

every black cloud as the proverbial

So the bbc thinks this bullshit about politic course applications is more important than showing the animals hounding Jacob Rees and his son yesterday?!?! Disgraceful!!!

These people draped in the european flags and hats, Europe wants the deal for goodness sake, but its a hat hay ho

Meanwhile in France.

Attractive to people who don't care about consent, the wishes of others, or hard work.

Is this because they want to serve the people or dictate to them?

It would probably be illuminating to do a study conting the number of BBC articles showing a picture of just the EU flag and those showing just the Union Flag. I suspect it would show a balance similar to the BBC’s Question Time panels.

michikokakutani If only the applicants had FUCKING VOTED IN THE FUCKING REFERENDUM!!!!

dirty remainers hurtle abuse at mp's leaving parliament but that wasnt on the anti-brexit bbc ---mmmmmmm

what total crap----after nigel wins the ge there will be a major shake up and change to the anti democratic politicians of today -----

Probably run by left wing Lecturers

Why? Textbooks and rules of politics being ripped up daily by government. Such a moving feast that teaching this subjectvmust be impossible!

Goody. More 'career politicians'...

Is the BBC sure it's Brexit causing the surge - I rather think it's students thinking that if the clowns and incompetents of the UK's current Government can fool the British public so easily, there must be plenty of room at the top.

oxbridge candidates straight to the top. It's all bullshit. We're run by self serving psychopaths.

That's all we need, more career politicians that only think of their back pocket and themselves! Instead of people with common sense, level head, business experience and a genuine want to make this country better.

Let's hope they come from poorer backgrounds

it's a world wild joke

UKParliament Well they must look at thickos like corbyn, letwin, burcow and get encouragement.

Just become a lying cheating no good Indian giving swindling double crossing ratbag. Pass with distinction. 1:1 without opening a book.

Is it because they want a life of being well paid for shafting people

While I am all for younger people getting involved in politics and hopefully growing voter turnout in the under 30s, I do hope that those with politics degrees get 'real' jobs before making their way into politics.

What job does that course lead to?

PPE should be a hobby 😋

Clearly they've noticed how easy and spongy it is.

They teach leftists in primary schools alongside the kids.

Brexit sparks boom in application for BBC licence fee tax rebates.......

like I said this cost jobs by vat like your money will goes higher. think next time.

Talk about studying we weren't also told in the referendum that it wouldn't be that easy to study in the other 27 countries on leaving the Eu we were only told what we MIGHT gain

I thought all the university and Collage's had a leaning towards the EU . its started quickly to recruit and educate more students in the doctrines of the EU . working hand in hand with the BBC or EBU to educate and inform getting the next generation to rejoin brexit eu remain

First module: Being a massive hypocrite Case study: Jeremy Corbyn Contents: how to reject three deals, No Deal, a People's Vote AND an election, and still believe people will be stupid enough to fall for lies such as 'today we defeated Boris' Deal' when it wasn't even voted on.

Obviously people thing they could do a better job than the current lot.

I’d rather stick hot needles in my eyes than get involved with politics.

greatweet Brexit may be driving many to distraction... drive/drove/driven They're everywhere and the book is yours!😀😀😀 esl english ingles books kindle ielts toefl toeic
