Cambridge University: 'Stormzy effect' helps rise in black students

The"Stormzy effect" has contributed to more black students being admitted to the University of Cambridge, it has said.

Grime artist Stormzy has pledged to fund the tuition fees and living costs of two students each year.This year 91 black students were admitted to the university, up about 50% from the 61 who started courses in autumn 2018.there has also been an increase in the number of black students taking part in outreach activities and enquiring about courses, the university said.

The university said it meant this year there would be more than 200 black undergraduates studying at Cambridge in total, a record number.

If this were the other way around some would say it was racist.

is this not breaking the law say? so he turns down white kids fir funding? Causes resentment this kind of thing!

God, imagine a white person said or did that, thrown into jail!

Where is the white man looking out for poor white boys? Contrary to the oft told lies. Whites in the North suffer the most.

Please do not give this man attention for avoiding paying tax just because you class it as a 'minority helping minorities' story...

Does he fund any white students?! Especially from poorer backgrounds, isn’t this discriminatory if he doesn’t!?

Let's just hope they are equally as smart as there fellow students.

Not much of a boast if they turn out to be as thick as Abbott.

From the article: '26.8% of its undergraduate students this year were from black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds.' Yet in 2018 the BAME community in the Uk stood at just under 13%. .
