His mother has slammed the school and says the ban is affecting his learning

An angry mum has slammed her son’s school after he was removed from lessons and placed in a behaviour support unit for wearing branded footwear.

The secondary school threw Nicki Mawby’s son Tyler Hickin, 15, out of lessons after he came to class wearing black Vans with a logo on each heel. She said: ‘They put him in the behavioural support unit and said until he changed his footwear he won’t be allowed back into lessons.‘And if he didn’t change them, he will have to find another school.’She continued: ‘I’m worried it’s affecting his learning. I’m incredibly annoyed he’s been removed from lessons.‘There are a number of parents who have contacted me in the same position who said they are pleased they’re not the only ones.

Miss Mawby claimed that replacement footwear was provided to children to wear by the school, which has the brand ‘Slazenger’ written on the back.

If the rules say he should not wear branded footwear, why is this so difficult? The intention is a reasonable one surely?

Not only are they branded and against policy they’re not even shoes! They’re pumps! School uniform is not for the catwalk!

We used to get told to go back home or no break or lunch time

No sympathy here boy

The World has Officially gone Mad!!!!!

Don’t look like shoes to me !! All pupils should have to wear the same SHOES for school and PUMPS for PE then no issues as all would be the same .

The story here is.. Student didn't adhere to school rules and received a sanction.. Well done school for trying to set boundaries and shame on the parents trying to undermine them..

Silly cow

So she bought him branded shoes even though school has a no brand policy? It’s a stupid fucking rule but it is the rule. No wonder kids don’t follow rules anymore when parents can’t even do it

School has a uniform policy, mother and student break policy, school enforces well established policy and now mum goes to the papers complaining about the school. She broke a pretty agreeable rule and now she’s giving out that there’s a punishment? Great parenting

Trainers 👀👀👀🤔🤔

Boy banned from class for breaking the rules. Non story.

Hmmmmmm here's an idea BUY THE RIGHT FUCKING SHOES THEN!?!?! Only story here is attention seeking parent makes trouble out of nothing FFS 🙄

Mum do you think it will be ok if I smoke a joint while I’m in lesson it will make me feel better 'yes son as long as you feel better' that’s all that matters (GET THE LITTLE SHIT DOWN TO SHOE ZONE AND FORCE THE POSER INTO SOME £5 ONES & TWOS) FFS

I don’t know who is worse. The student fo wearing them or the parent for buying them. I seem to remember wearing trainers at school and being told off.

Aren’t their bigger issues to worry about? C’mon. Schools have rules about clothes! Let’s solve world hunger or healthcare! 💥

Why is this even news. The mum proudly holding her sons trainer who isn’t receiving proper education cause she hasn’t bought him the right shoes

Go on give us a clue... How does this make the news?

Top notch compo faces.

More parents who think they can do what they want. School says No Branded, she goes out and buys branded trainers and expects the school to allow it. Poor little child must be devastated he cant break the rules because mummy said he could.

All schools should wear the uniform as designated by the school/ headmaster. Thst includes shirt tails tucked in. .

val_tigress What s joke banning kids for wearing branded shoes, its because poor kids families cant afford branded ones,

Always the dork family photo with the offending article of clothing. What makes this tedious trope newsworthy every September?

Schools are such Mongo's 😂😂 I left school 4 years ago and as long as the shoe was all black that's all that mattered. More things to worry about than a stupid brand label or logo 😂😂😂😂

Why can’t people just follow the rules?

He needs to remember, children have been stabbed for less.

Read the rules !

val_tigress The attention seeking syndrome that runs rampant in todays society

Correct headline 'Mum gets son banned from class due to her inability to follow basic uniform guidelines'

Uniform does not affect your ability to learn

Black shoes

Every start of a new school year there is always some twat going to the papers about their blue eyed boy or girl breaking the rules with their wrong hair or wrong shoes! Home school them if you don’t like the rules! Simple!

How much money have they got from this story?

They’re trainers. Not shoes.

I know it's none of my business but these are trainers. The school's policy says black shoes must be worn and prohibits 'trainer look-a-likes'. The answer is to buy some proper school shoes. Handily the school have a fund to help parents with uniform if cost is a barrier 👍

School uniform is there to put all kids on an equal footing. It is not there for CHAVs to play the system and complain

Good. Clue is in the title.

Cool looking shoes. Jet black Vans shoes. Nice.

My daughters getting shit because shes not wearing ballerinas. No brand all black shoes not good enough. At her school they scream at them!!! And girls have to wear skirts now too which she isnt doing because she doesnt like wearing skirts. Its all bullshit across the UK

My office job requires me to dress a certain way too . It's life so buy him suitable shoes and go on with your lives.

Parents setting bad example in firstly buying then parading to press. Don't say hown many 100 parents got it.

Similar to how Ted Bundy was caught out by that pesky ‘no murdering people’ rule. If only his mum had rang the papers to ask them to take a photo of them both looking sad...

Don't beak the rules. Shut up. Get back to school and take that thick mother of your along with you. She needs to learn that rules count.

Think the 'angry' mum needs to work on the compoface. Not to worry could've sailed home in them fuckers compo_face

How many more of these stories do we need? They are clearly not black leather shoes. End of.

They are trainers, not shoes. The rules have been around for decades

Well I think he should be given either a life sentence or face the firing squad! Despicable

Good 👍🏼

The day no brands so that it cuts down on bullying for them parents who can’t afford them for there children. I had to wear shoes no trainers or pumps or ugg boots just shoes so why can’t parents stick to the policy and then that way their child won’t miss their education

Well technically they are trainers 👟 we always had to have leather shoes not trainers for school and branded wasn’t an issue as we all either had drmartens or KickersUK

There’s nothing wrong with those at all. “Oh but school policy”. Then change the policy. Education is so much more important than this petty nonsense.

No sympathy here boy

Why is this news all schools have rules that state no trainers .. smart black shoes .. those are clearly trainers...

🤦‍♀️

Fml just buy him a pair of knockoffs without logo from Shoe Zone, and get over yourself 🙄

Imagine working for a school and having to deal with these arses for parents. This is a common rule to stop kids getting picked on because their parents cant afford Nikes for their 6 year olds.

Shouldn't have got branded shoes then 🙄 they don't even look like shoes they are trainers! These rules have been around for years stop trying to think they don't apply to u!

Its about rules..if u dont ike it take him to another schoo

They are trainers. Not shoes.

Well there was a clue. The uniform policy says ‘no brands or logos’. Them’s the rules! You break rules there are consequences. End of. Not really news though, is it?
