A top female swimmer in Alaska was disqualified from a race she had already won when a referee ruled that her bathing suit was immodest and showed off too much backside, officials said Monday.

Alaska, if swimsuit really was a problem, why wasn't a warning given first? If others were wearing the same suit & not punished, it must be a problem w/ her body...& that's so wrong. Could it be a problem w/ the ref? Did he think 'The Handmaiden'sTale' was an instruction manual?

The real question becomes why weren’t the suits questioned or deemed disqualifying before the performance? The timing of the call by a referee should trigger a limit on the discretion. Much like segments of our justice system, it appears abuse of discretion is epidemic.
The suit was an approved swimsuit and it was not an issue in previous swim meets. There is no good reason for the referee to disqualify her AFTER SHE WON. I smell a stinky fish, and it is not the swimmer. Bias and shaming are not hard to figure out here (pun and all).
If her butt cheeks were completely showing...then that is not an appropriate suit for her to wear. Maybe go up a size in the swimsuit.
