University of Santo Tomas rained threes in the last two minutes to pull off a stunning 85-69 win over last year’s finalist University of the Philippines.

UST’s Soulemane Chabi Yo, right, drives to the basket against UP defenders during their UAAP game on Saturday.

A three from rookie Mark Nonoy gave the Tigers a 76-69 lead, before Renz Subido fired two straight triples to silence the Maroons and post their second straight win for sole possession of top spot. Soulemane Chabiyo outdueled Bright Akhuetie as he paced the Tigers with 18 points and 18 rebounds. Rhenz Abando contributed 12 points, seven board, two assists, two steals and three blocks, while Dave Ando added 10 points.

The Tigers hit nine triples out of 28 attempts and finished with a 34-of-73 field goal shooting for 46 percent.
