The proposed law that would require all California high school students take an ethnic studies course is on hold for at least a year after pro-Israel groups and other critics raised concerns about the curriculum.

A proposed law that would require all California high school students take an ethnic studies course is on hold for this year after the draft curriculum prompted weeks of escalating controversy from diverse groups whose members said they were misrepresented or excluded.

for all students,” Medina said in a statement. “It is not a question of whether the subject itself is necessary but rather, how do we ensure the curriculum is comprehensive, rigorous, and inclusive enough. This underscores the importance of taking the time necessary to ensure we get the curriculum right.”Medina’s action turned Assembly Bill 331 into a “two-year bill,” which allows him to postpone a vote in the current session without killing it .

Others said the draft curriculum is filled with too much jargon, including the glossary, which includes terms such as “herstory and “hxrstory” instead of “history,” and “cisheteropatriarchy.”Ethnic studies in California have focused mainly on four groups: Latinos, African Americans, Asian Americans and indigenous peoples — those present in the Americas before the period of European colonization.

Assemblyman Jesse Gabriel, vice-chair of the Jewish caucus, called Medina’s decision to delay action on the graduation requirement “a wise move.” R. Tolteka Cuauhtin, a Los Angeles teacher who co-chaired the advisory committee that created the draft curriculum, said Thursday he was comfortable with the delay.“I let Assemblymember Medina know a couple of weeks ago, I strongly recommend the conversion of [the legislation] into a two-year bill. It makes sense,” said Cuauhtin. “Can we help others feel more included? Yes, definitely — not at the cost of what ethnic studies is, though.

Look at all the strength in our diversity.

Good. Scrap the whole thing.

Students need a financial literacy course requirement, not this BS

Will the Caucasian ethnic group be studied or is this more Liberal Anti-White bullshit?

Just what to be sure I understand: Pro-Israel (ie a foreign country) groups are influencing a curriculum in U.S. education? Hmmm...

God forbid anyone studies the Talmudic texts and correlates current political trends.

How about more math and English?

Kids don't need to know about “hxrstory” or “cisheteropatriarchy.” Anything the Jews want in there will be just as bad if not worse. Let's end the indoctrination and drop it all together. Heya Kiddos. It's okay to be white! 😝

'studies' Automatic waste of time. It's merely a jobs program for useless instructors.

What the hell does a pro israel group have to do with an individual American state's high school PUBLIC curriculum.

Will the class time devoted to studying each ethnic group be a function of its percentage of the State population or will that issue quickly devolve into political controversy? And the cited ethnic groups are hardly monolithic. Identity politics on steroids?

I'd take Scottish studies.

TL;DR: Jews worry that having other groups, mostly non-Whites, play the victim too that it will threaten their monopoly on White guilt. Multiculturalism sure is great.

So much for trying to integrate. When will California finally secede?

Yay another dog whistle term to bank in my mental library of reasons to walk into the ocean with rocks in my pockets

How about kids study how to write a check and save for retirement.
