Do we still need school uniforms or, as stephnimmo, is it about learning respect in all its forms? 👔

When I was growing up, I lived in fear of being singled out by Mrs Jones, the deputy head teacher responsible for enforcing the strict uniform policy at my comprehensive in South Wales.

I remember my first day of high school, joining the sea of similarly-clad girls making their way through the school gates and feeling like I belonged. It was socially levelling, too. At an age where everyone was into logos and designer brands, we were all equal. I didn’t feel embarrassed that I couldn’t afford the latest gear, because during the school day my life was consigned to a sea of grey conformity, regardless of my background.

I was interested in Ofsted reports and league tables, but I also researched how schools implemented rules and regulations.

Brexiteer gets history lesson after saying we didn’t need academics to win WW2A Brexiteer has made the “point” that we didn’t need academics to win World War II and he’s been on the receiving end of some pointed history lessons from his fellow concerned citizens. Facts are in Strategists? Logistics? Experts? From all over the world? a satisfying read I love how this bloke has made absolutely NOBODY question an unaccountable, anonymous twitter account spouting utter bollocks.
