A 19-year-old man is in a critical condition at Cork University Hospital after he is believed to have ingested a substance while attending the Indiependence music festival at Mitchelstown in Co Cork.

It is believed the man walked into the medical centre at the festival and complained of feeling unwell. He was treated there before being transferred to Cork University Hospital, where his condition deteriorated.The man is not from Cork, but is from a nearby county. Cork University Hospital has tweeted an alert warning people who are attending the festival that it is treating patients with "very severe illness" from taking ecstasy at the event in Mitchelstown. CUH has received patients with very severe illness from taking Ecstasy at the Indie19 Festival in Mitchelstown.
