To help improve their work in sports training, the Department of Education (DepEd) encouraged qualified physical education teachers and coaches in public schools to apply and participate in a two-year international coaching course in Germany.

DepEd Undersecretary Atty. Nepomuceno Malaluan, in DepEd Memorandum No. 098 s. of 2018 issued to undersecretaries, assistant secretaries, bureau and service directors, regional directors, schools division superintendents, and public secondary school heads, announced the International Coaching Course by the University of Leipzig in Germany which is organized from 2020 to 2022.

Successful participants to the international coaching course will also be able to “apply the acquired and in-depth knowledge, as well as their methodical competencies in practical sports training under different conditions.” Likewise, the participants will learn how to “analyze development tendencies in their selected sports discipline and to take into consideration when planning their own training process.

Malaluan, in the memo, said that the program is “open to qualified coaches and physical education teachers” below 40 years old with completed higher education in the field of sports. “Female applicants are highly encouraged,” he added.
