In general, the study found that Canadian curricula does not cover the scientific consensus behind climate change, its impacts or solutions

High school students in Canada may not be getting the full story about climate change, according to a new study by researchers from the University of British Columbia and Lund University in Sweden.

“We know that part of the role of science education in Canada as laid out in various provincial documents is to prepare students to be environmental citizens,” he added. Nova Scotia and New Brunswick had the oldest curriculum documents and also the least comprehensive coverage of climate change. The study found mandatory courses only covered the fact the climate is warming.

“It can be difficult for teachers if they’re in a community where this issue is polarized. On the other hand, there’s space for teachers who are passionate about the subject to really dig in deeper and engage students on a higher level,” he said. Previously, Wynes was a high school science teacher who trained in Ontario and taught in the U.K. and northern Quebec.

What they want taught in science ought to be taught in social studies. Or maybe even philosophy.

who paid for the study?

Yes they should be teaching that CO2 is dangerously LOW. For last 450 million years CO2 was 5x today. Our CO2 is greening the planet not warming it.

The last thing B.C. should be doing is giving anyone education advice.

Maybe they would start with the later stats out of Germany.

Not many can do much math either. But understanding things like interest rates, Fxchange, amortizations, lease vs buy considerations, bonds or equities really need to take a back seat to .. climate change. Do you give the suckers a participation ribbon ?

Universities are now overpriced clown colleges

In 2012 there were dozens of articles published about how the record low levels of Lake Michigan/Huron and the rest of the Great Lakes were due to climate change. We were told it was only going to get worse. This year the lakes are at record high levels but no retractions. 🙄
