Business | From a measly start-up capital of only R2000 and a bedroom which doubled as his boardroom, now as CEO of M&N Brands, Zibusiso Mkhwanazi is all too familiar with the struggles of start-ups and entrepreneurs in South Africa, by JKwritingz

Zibusiso Mkhwanazi, the group CEO of M&N Brands, the holding company that owns Avatar Agency JHB, Avatar Agency CPT, Avatar PR, Mela Events, Bozza and Zkhiphani.com is living testament to this.

He has also managed the SAA advertising account in countries like Angola, Argentina, Australia, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Peoples Republic of China, Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Scotland, South Africa, Switzerland, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, United Kingdom, United States of America and Zimbabwe for 5 years.

According to Mkhwanazi, this hands-on grooming by his mother during his formative years left a mark in his life. From a young age he developed a different relationship with money and how to generate it. He also doubled in fixing computers, an activity that started out as a hobby and would later become the niche to unlocking his new-found digital empire.

He added that there is a general fear of technology, especially back when Csonke.com was started, which the company capitalised on.
