Rose Lavelle Looked Up to Mia Hamm As a Kid—And Now Girls Want to Be Just Like Rose

Hamm is one of the most recognized athletes in soccer and helped pave the way for the women's national team today. Hamm was part of the team that won the 1991 and 1999 Women's World Cup and was the first woman inducted into thewith 158 goals in 275 matches. She also helped led the women's national team to win two Olympic gold medals in 1996 and 2004.

We can't help but get a little teary-eyed at the sweet photo of Lavelle dressed as Hamm. Lavelle is the future of the sport, carrying the torch for female athletes today and tomorrow. With the World Cup over, Lavelle will continue to play midfielder for the Washington Spirit, a professional soccer club in Germantown, Maryland, where she has been for the past year. And hopefully, we get to see her crush the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo with the rest of the U.S.
