Jena P. Basco, executive principal of St. Robert’s International Academy confirmed, that “some students with respiratory problems had asthma attacks and were right away brought to the nearest hospital”.
In a statement, Basco explained that the school hired again the services of a reputable company to conduct fogging sessions last Friday as a means of curbing the threat posed by the mosquito-borne disease. While the usual Post-fogging precautionary measures were conducted over the weekend, the school will probe what caused some students to experience asthma attacks. Basco said the executives of the fogging company have been summoned to shed light to the incident.
As of press time, the majority of the students taken to the hospital were only outpatients while the rest are being observed. Meanwhile, Mayor Jerry Treñas has urged barangay officials to purchases its own misting machines as a means of curbing the number of dengue cases. There are an estimated 600 dengue cases with five deaths.
