'I feel proud': Alberta grandma graduates from high school 47 years later

“I was in Grade 12 and the times were a lot different in those days," said Cowell. "I got engaged in January and was getting married that summer."

“It was something that I didn’t think was going to happen and I knew that it was something I wanted to do, but I didn’t know how important it was until it happened," Cowell said. "I think I feel proud.” “It was incredible," Carter said. "Not many people have such a close relationship with their grandparents and let alone being able to go to school with them. It’s just a great experience."
