The deadline for the filing of online application for the Senior High School Voucher Program (SHS VP) for School Year (SY) 2019-2020 has been extended to June 7, the Department of Education (DepEd) announced Monday.

In a press briefing during the school opening at the Signal Village National High School in Taguig City, Education Secretary Leonor Briones said the deadline was extended “due to the higher demand” from learners and parents as well.

To “ensure that all students have access to quality education,” Briones said DepEd decided to extend the deadline for online application. Meanwhile, DepEd reminded that only Grade 10 completers from private junior high schools who wish to avail themselves of the financial subsidy need to apply since they are not among the automatic voucher recipients.

As per DepEd, the Qualified Voucher Applicants , formerly called Qualified Voucher Recipient , shall receive a subsidy on their tuition and other school fees, the amount of which will depend on the category of the QVA and the location of the school where the students will enroll in. Despite the late announcement of SHS VP application, DepEd officials urged SHS providers to “accept” the incoming SHS learners.
