The proportion of NSW year 12 graduates studying or training the year after they leave school has fallen to its lowest point this decade, driven by a steady decline in vocational education and improved job prospects.
Cuts to TAFE have been blamed for fewer students choosing to study vocational certificates in the year after graduating schoolIn 2017, 50 per cent of graduates were working towards a bachelor's degree - the second-lowest result in the seven years covered by the survey - and 9.4 per cent were studying for a VET certificate, a drop of more than six per cent on 2010.The proportion of graduates employed in full time or part-time work in 2017 was at its highest level since 2010.

JordsBaker A generation seeing debt, little prospects of a permanent secure job, parents, peers suffering restructures, redundancy, casualisation of workforce. Artificial intelligence barrelling down on jobs hitherto not affected. So many seem to be saying have a debt no job no way!
JordsBaker LiarFromTheShire TonyAbbottMHR back in 2013 Tafe diploma was $500 semester and jumped to $2500. Thanks LiberalAus

JordsBaker No mystery- TAFE castrated by ‘competing’ with private RTO qualification factories. Uni’s tout for low to no ATAR applicants who prefer to put fees on lay buy HECS never-never scheme. ASQA & TEQSA scratch their bums. Educational validity declines. How good is Straya!
