Bristol distances itself from academic who claims to have solved century-old mystery

A university that breathlessly declared one of its academics had cracked the code of the celebrated Voynich manuscript has been forced into an embarrassing climbdown after medieval experts poured scorn on his theory.

All I can interpret from artwork, people back then thought the lakes were green.😀

Who could ever have seen this coming? Probably, I don't know, professional historians, like, everywhere?

A non-historian produces a historical theory that is pure, unadulterated twaddle and gets hauled over the coals by professional historians and calls it disputed!

And this is why when Bristol broke the news earlier about the Voynich manuscript, everyone just rolled their eyes. At least once every year or so, someone 'breaks the code'. You can set your watch by it.
