Warwick Public School caused an uproar last week, when it announced that any students with unpaid balances on their lunch accounts would receive a sunflower seed butter and jelly sandwich until their balance was paid.Several parents were furious about the district's decision to give those students in the district south of Providence a limited midday meal option. They called it lunch shaming. The Warwick School Committee approved the policy on Tuesday, according to CNN affiliate WPRI.
The school board, the head of the district office, the Superintendent of Schools, & still no one in charge could resolve this satisfactorily before it became national news? Sounds like RI needs an infusion of creative thinkers, problem-solvers.
So, just teach them that If you dont pay your bills you get the same thing as everyone else.
Maybe mom and dad can make them a sandwich for about .30 cents realDonaldTrump

Some people REALLY cannot afford it. Schools should be giving lunches for free. It helps our kids minds and bodies to learn and it takes stress off. Take the wall money and use it for our kids. They deserve it. We owe it to them. No child should EVER go hungry.
Child protective services should visit those parents who refuse to pay their kids’ lunch bill.
The article says 72% of the kids in debt are not enrolled in the free or reduced-price lunch program for low income families. So most of these kids aren't poor. They just have irresponsible parents who subjected their own children to an awkward attempt to hold people accountable.
The funny thing is some of the parents of these kids who can't afford lunch is due to poor choices by parents. Some of these parents who can't afford lunches for their kids have nice cell phones, cool cars, nice shoes.
To solve that problem, In our school district, every student gets a free breakfast. Rich and Poor. People would say - that is expensive. Property taxes are 1/4 that of NYS taxes and the district has all a+ schools . Just terrible management in states like NYS.
Yet every anchor baby gets a hot lunch no questions asked.
I’m sure that all illegal aliens get a hot lunch of course.
