The careers service at the university’s Centre for Higher Education and Development said the results of its survey were supported by the Quacquarelli Symonds graduate employability rankings, which put UCT top in Africa and 18th in the world.
Just over 23% of students were earning between R20,000 and R30,000, 16.14% between R15,001 and R20,000, and 5.21% between R5,001 and R7 000. Health sciences was the best faculty for graduate employability, with 70% of all medical students in jobs. Second was law . 11% of 2018 graduates were still seeking work.

Well, not everybody can get into UCT. That’s why there are other universities. Not everybody lives in Cape Town. Not everybody want to, or can afford accommodation, need to stay at home with family.

Unfortunately this is true, as a young graduate I struggled to even get interviews because I did not study at UCT or Stellies. Fast forward 11 years later the impediment of the institution from which I got my degree from does not exist. 😏

Remember even in an evenly leveled field players will perform differently as some will be naturally highly gifted in terms of talents and other wise so yes varsity qualities are different
UCT, UP, Wits, Stellenbosch those are like the SA ivy league unis.
I'm not a UCT graduate but I'm employed..I guess that's because they don't offer Pharmacy.
