Half of all Australians with high blood pressure don’t realise they have it, according to new research.

Of the 3817 people involved in the Australian component of the study, 31.2 per cent had high blood pressure and only half of them were aware of it.

The research, by scientists from the University of Western Australia and the Royal Perth Hospital Medical Research Foundation, has been released during May Measurement Month - a campaign encouraging people to take free blood pressure tests.
