Black students are failing to apply to Cambridge because there is a lack of Afro-Caribbean hairdressers in the city, the university’s pro-vice-Chancellor has said.
Has anyone seen the actual research? is this reported in The Guardian, the BBC site, TES, The Voice Online ... or only The Torygraph and the Daily Mail?
Some of y'all are reading this & believing it. Yes, limited options for hair black care is a nuisance, not an active deterrent. Because Amazon Prime delivers oils, bonnets, creams, doo-rags & wide tooth combs all over the UK, everyday. Find a new excuse please.
PS/ The word is African-Caribbean. 'Afro' is a hairstyle, you dunderheads! 😂
This is just rubbish. I doubt that anyone Black said that. There're at least 2 Black barbershops & a saloon in Cambridge. That's a lot for a small town. There're also many black students Cambridge_Uni I doubt that any of them thought about their hair before applying. I didn't!
Perhaps it's parents and schools, not universities, that should be educating pupils to understand that a worthwhile and fulfilling life need not depend on the proximity of barbers.
they dont want to go to Cambridge because there's a lack of afro Caribbean hairdressers, if i was head of Cambridge i wouldn't want them if they put the state of their hair above education that would say it all for me or perhaps they haven't got the grades to get in.
