By Perry Stein Perry Stein Reporter covering D.C. education Email Bio Follow May 7 at 5:10 PM Multiple injuries are reported at a suburban Denver school where police responded to reports of gunshots, according to law enforcement authorities.The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office in Castle Rock, Colo., tweeted that shots were fired at the STEM School Highlands Ranch — a school with more than 1,500 students in kindergarten through 12th grade.
“First update, 2 injured, deputies in process of identifying and locating shooter. Still active and unstable scene,” the sheriff’s office tweeted.This is a developing story. It will be updated.
Talking with a Denver teacher last week he told me that their are no guard rails for out of control students AND that many graduate regardless of their grades or behavior.

It stops being “just another shooting” when it’s in your own neighborhood. As a parent trying to get to my own kid right now I’m another lockout school as there are ambulances flying past and helicopters landing - it’s horrific
