A family from China paid a college counselor $6.5 million for help securing a spot at Stanford and connected to the counselor via Morgan Stanley

A family from China paid a college counselor $6.5 million for help securing a spot at Stanford University, and connected to the counselor via a Morgan Stanley employee, according to a person familiar with the matter.

The involvement of Morgan Stanley illustrates how William “Rick” Singer, the Newport Beach, Calif., college consultant who has admitted to masterminding the alleged college-admissions cheating scheme, infiltrated wealthy networks to pitch his services.

'Another Chinese family paid..$1.2 million for..Yale..connecting..through.. Oppenheimer'

Corruption is rampant across every walk of life in China; people are used to bribing others to speed things up and get things done. In all likelihood the Zhao case is just the tip of the iceberg.

MS isn’t healthy but the money coming in is bc of Morgan Stanley

Lol wait til people start to see just how deep this goes. This has been known in academic circles for going on at least 20 years.

Give me $6+ millions & I’d skip the degree! 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

My man Bernie...😐

Why would you pay so much? Not to be mean but is their kid that stupid? It’s stupid to pay such a ridiculous amount.

Ridiculous.

Paid a counselor or paid the University? I’m sure the IRS would be interested in the former?

It explains some of the meatheads coming out of university. I see people with IT degrees from expensive universities who must pay others to do assignments and exams as their brains are not fit to even work at Burger King. They get found out in their 1st job.

My Daughter was accepted to every University she applied without paying a penny.

When education becomes business

Why didn't they just give her the money?

Why does this not surprise me. All of this cheating with admissions gives me the impression that the least skilled people attend these prestigious schools.
