At least three people have been shot and one person is in custody after an incident on the campus of the the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, according to a city official.
The university's official twitter account told its students to "run, hide, fight. Secure yourself immediately" in light of reports of shots on-campus. The facility was also put into immediate lockdown following the reports, with students told to monitor their internal email accounts and the university's website for updates.It is understood police are going from building to building in a campus-wide sweep.
The university, which has 30,000 students, tweeted: "Campus lockdown continues. Remain in a safe location. Monitor email and UNCC homepage."
