Manchester Crown Court

When he was arrested, Aaron Wood said: 'I think I sexually assaulted someone, I apologise, I feel so bad, I just don’t know what to do, I was so drunk'

A student admitted sexually assaulting a friend after a night out in Manchester city centre, texting her: “For some sick reason I put my hands on you.”

The now 21-year-old pleaded guilty to an offence of sexual assault on a female and was handed a community order. “This happened two to three times before he reached a spooning position behind her and placed his hand on her left breast. Five minutes later he turned over and when she went to get up he said: ‘Oh I did not know you were in here’.”

Wood answered: “I know, I’m going to get help - think it’s for the best I don’t come out again, done something unforgivable.”The defendant wrote back: “Please don’t get the police involved, it was just touching, I never should have.”Wood replied: “I woke up, for some sick reason I put my hands on you, I took a photo of you and deleted it - please don’t get the police involved.”
