A headteacher says he has received 'overwhelming support' for the project but critics claim it may be 'traumatising' for children.

"The children know that the pigs are not pets and they haven't got names."

The school is also following specific instructions from Muslim families with children in attendance, with involvement ranging from"none at all to almost full engagement".The school says the pigs will have twice the lifespan of commercially-reared breeds The programme's head of policy, Rob Percival, said:"Most of us eat meat of animal products, and so it's entirely appropriate that children are taught how this meat is produced and what it takes to put it on our plates".

Pigs are amongst the top ten most intelligent animals on the planet. Crazy we are still murdering and eating them in 2019 let alone this!!!

Worlds getting soft as fuck

Wonder who is complaining?

That's OK as long as they don't go killing every animal in sight. 😲

What else would you raise them for ?

Perhaps they could show children the complete process from beginning to end.

No time like the present to find out that they are eating Peppa Pig for breakfast! Nom nom!

What type of person gets angry at active learning? 😳 Baffling.

I don’t think we have any right to eat meat and pretend to ourselves that it does not come from slaughtered animals.

If you're going to eat it, you ought to see it. knowledge 😅 eatlessmeat growyourown

How come the PC brigade always want to petition either educational or scientific lessons to educate pupils in the way of life either from growing things be it plants or animals to religious or sexual facts, they want it stopped There will be no Education in years to come

Let’s ban garden plots at schools too - can’t believe they let kids murder vegetables too!! 😂😂

Picture shows pigs outdoors having fun but it ain't reality , most pugs are factory farmed is no fun and this is far from the truth .

It’s nature

Anger from who exactly? The responses on here suggest otherwise, bet you weren't expecting that! reallife

They should be growing to fed the school and they should ensure the children see how much better organic, free rage food tastes Well done though, great idea!

FHoulahan mmmm bacon

Brave move. I'm with the school on this

...and thats wrong because?🤔

Don't agree with the children cutting the pigs neck tho

There's a Japanese movie about this, highly recommanded.

I went to school in the 70s We had a farm on the school i helped run ,pigs, sheep, chickens ,i have castrated sheep and milked goats sent pigs for slaughter this is where food comes from Its called EDUCATION

I think it’s a brill idea more schools should do it. This is a fact of life I notice nobody says anything about the veg that gets butchered, that’s grown to feed people so why should meat be treated differently

We rear pigs for slaughter!

Get some cows and chicken too

Hear we go again bend over backwards to keep the muslims happy

For gods sake the primary school I attended 50 years ago raised pigs and slaughtered them. Are we just going to shield children from all real life events in the future.

Why?

This is what happens for real ..get real!

It’s good education. Children need to know where there food comes from . Can not keep molly coddling kids . It’s the real world

Should be included in every child's education. Anger over this is rubbish.

Isn't that called farming? Vegans offended everywhere.. 😅

It’ll probably make most of those kids either vegetarian or extremely respectful of where meat comes from. Nothing wrong with either.

Amazing... other schools should follow

You don’t mean ‘anger’ you mean ‘confected outrage’. Pigs do not roam wild they are bred for food.

As a parent I would be horrified. They have to realise the impact this is going to have on the children. They know bacon is from a pig, they don't need to know they kill 'babe' to get it!

I want to know where they get 200000 people petitioning we eat animals we have to kill them to eat them simple kids should know

Who gives a shit they need to learn it’s nothing new is it sad wankers who ever is petitioning it

Oh, let’s tell them that meat comes from a freezer and cheese from a bag. Be outraged also for having a vegetable patch or an orchard

Which snowflakes have been upset. Jesus wept some inner city kids think milk comes from the supermarket not realising its from cows. The school is doing nothing wrong.

Too much negative energy spent hiding perfectly healthy reality of the world from children.

typical Britain, allways having a good moan, even when just like all others say thats what pigs are there for.

Nothing wrong with that at all.

Why, it’s reality?

Wonder if the school will allow the kids to take part in the slaughter process? And how to prepare the carcass and how to cook afterwards. A complete education.

Zero food miles ! What more could you ask for to be eco friendly.

Get over it

Grow up ffs....

That's shocking! How stupid

It’s real life and the pigs are affectionally known as bacon and chop 🐷🐷

Kids are doing the slaughtering yeah?

Who's angry

The critics are LGBT who added Q. Now that they have achieved diversity in schools and same sex couples angst they can add bestiality. 'After all if you love them.' You do see, don't you!

Good idea, children can at last see where their bacon, ham & pork come from. Poor little snowflakes

Shame they dont slaughter them pigs in parliament

snowflakes crying again! Great idea if you ask me

I'll accept anger, if all of them are vegetarians ... Bet they aren't

Let's be honest, this is more about pork being haram than anything else: 'unfair for religious families that specifically do not eat pork.' Piss off, just don't eat it ffs.

jay__ell the farm at Andrew marvel is still some of the best stuff I’ve ever had 😂

Go vegan 🌱

I cut up rats at school in biology when I was a lad. And cubs taught me to salmon fish 😂😂😂

Probably some religious belief accountable for this. Let the kids learn.

Welcome to snowflake Britain

Take the kids to a slaughter house, if you really want to see how the pigs will end up

Think of the money they’ll get!

How much? How do I place order?

Just wait until the kids find out just where hens eggs emerge.

Traumatic for children? By the way I dropped that chicken on the floor when I cooked it.. What!! I SAID YOUR FOOD WAS A LOVE IN A CAGE LIKE A DOG OR A SLAVE!!! Sorry for the condescendings I mean I just thought you should know before you eat it In case you have problem

What other reason would there be? Millenials are all scared of the truth

My niece was once asked. ' where do peas come from' She answered ' A tin '. This is way this a great project. Stop kids thinking pork chops come from a heat wrapped non recyclable tray.

We don’t like the truth, do we 😶

Why?

Media shouldn't get involved

It's life, suck it up buttercups! 🤔

For goodness sake the snowflakes are taking over the world!

Best idea EVER... now teach them whats actually in chicken nuggets and sausage rolls etc.educate children from day 1 what is good to eat.. its the best education they will receive. So many overweight kids around because of Lazy Parenting scared to say No because thier kids cry!

What's wrong with a self sufficient school kitchen? Don't tell me... It was ExtinctionRebellion complaining?

I applaud it. Educating kids to make informed choices. And I eat meat.

Get over it ❄️❄️❄️

I guess pig farmers are now child abusers.

There are bound to be some veggie/vegan kids, so the arguments about if you eat it, then face the reality does not apply to them; the complicity does.

Next year they will be taught how to choke hold a chimp, domesticate it and send it Morrison’s for fags and milk.

Bloody snowflakes

So what? Should we lie to them instead. People are far to scared of the real world today.

NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!!!!!!!

Where's the link for the petition

That should piss of the Muslim community and the Vegans and anyone else who wants too be outraged for 10 minuets.

Nothing wrong with it. It’s how the real world works

Put me down for a dozen sausages and a kilo of chops?

People get angry over the silliest of things.

It’s a good thing, all kids should know where food comes from and how to look after livestock... makes you wonder who who was angry about this and if it would be different situation if it wasn’t pigs

Thing is, they will without a doubt have a better life than the mass produced for meat pigs that are sold in supermarkets.

It's pretty educational though

Why anger?

So it’s okay to explain same sex parents but not where your bacon comes from? What utter tosh

The real world, there’s no point hiding from it.

Omg first world problems 😂

What else do you do with a pig ?

I see no problem with that, educates kids on where their food comes from, teaches them to care for what they eat and provides insight into agriculture for any kids who may want to go into that industry. Its only those who hide their children in this fantasy world who will worry.

The kids may as well know the reality of where their meat comes from so they can make their own informed decisions.

Unfortunately, it is a fact of life. Everyone should know where their food comes from.

Jolly good idea 👍

“But a petition started by a former student says such a project could be 'traumatising' for children, and was 'unfair' for religious families that specifically do not eat pork.” The real story behind the story. Bowing down to the non pork eaters again.

No harm in fresh bacon

Why?

Oh ffs

Good, other schools take note, also garden areas where they can understand the importance of gyo!

We call it 'bacon'. Why the anger?

Great idea

Pigs for slaughter, how shocking!

Do not tell them about the little fluffy lambs that get their eyes removed by nice fluffy little birds, who then eat other parts of fluffy, still living, lambs. Must keep kids brainwashed!

Makin bacon.

has a vegetarian i think this is discusting ::

How ridiculous. It’s not wrong to teach children where some foods come from. What next, banning all farmers from rearing livestock!!

You'll never please everyone. Most rational people will surely agree that the rearing and eating of pigs is normal in this country. Some children might find it tough- fair enough. But that's life!

Gonna make those peppa cartoons interesting

Brown sauce on my bacon please!

21st century people are terrified of reality. What a strange world

Snowflake alert 🚨

You couldn't make this up. Bring out the cotton wool

Bacon is a fact of life ....

There I was thinking Pork came from Tesco 😳😳😳😎

Kids should know were food comes from.

Pathetic.

Nothing wrong with teaching kids the process of life and where food comes from. But more importantly kids should be educated on the balanced diet that ppl should have and the amount of meat intake that would benefit them!!

Well u may as well bring in the rabbits ,turkeys ,chickens and any other animals so the kids can learn how they are slaughtered too ,may as well show the kids the whole lot while ur at it🙈

They should grow bacteria for meat free food... Oh wait bacteria and plants are as alive as animals

What is wrong with reality? Pork chops come from Tesco’s. Not cute little pigs.😂

Some families are vegetarian vegans I'm sure &some children will grow attached 2 the pigs when kept in a school environment. It is stated that future generations will consume far less or no meat; don't see this project as a +ve experience which will promote compassion 4animals

Eh? Is the whole school Vegan/Vegetarian/Muslim/Jewish?

Shock horror teaching the kids the truth. No can’t do that.

Nice 👌🏼

Well apart from teaching them the truth about where their quarter pounder from xyz comes from, it'll hopefully also show them how much effort is required to care for their own pets at home. guinea pigs and rabbits spring to mind.

It's life live with it

Shock horror, children being taught how the world actually works... 🙄

More should be done to educate children of the real cost of the food on their plates but this ain't it chief

I don't understand sum people it's horrific horrid for any child to see if they don't know the custom of it! No no no fcukin no!!

While I don’t like the idea I think we all need to think where our meat comes from. I ask my kids they say Asda. To understand the whole process isn’t that bad a thing because it happens. Don’t think the school should send them to slaughter but no harm in telling the kids.

Do they get to slaughter them too?

We had two years of agricultural science as a compulsory subject when I was at school in the 1980s. We reared pigs and sent them for slaughter. If you’re going to eat it you should care for it.

I suppose they could keep them and post videos on farcebook of them dying?

Oh dear the loonies come out to play . If it traumatises kids then they might go vegan or veggies. One answer to the moaners . Grow up! Stop shielding from real life. Then perhap we may get real adults instead of namby pamby cry babies.

It’s real life, deal with it.

As long as the children are forced to watch them being slaughtered and sliced up in to yummy bacon slices

Nah one one hand it's educational to an extent but on the other hand NO!! NO!! NO! vegans pft

Because they’re not halal?

Ffs!

Where do the kids think meat comes from ..... Santa

Don't blaim people being angry!!!!!!

You know you all wanted kids to be taught about LGBTQ because it's real life, well so is this 🙄

Are we still in the UK?

Wouldn’t want kids to actually learn something practical.

oh no, teaching children where their food actually comes from, and how to rear livestock in case they ever need the skill, how terrible

What? Was that wrong? Should they not have done that?
