Autauga Virtual Academy will open for the first time during the 2024-25 school year.

PRATTVILLE, Ala. - Autauga County Schools are adapting to an ever-increasing digital world by opening their first online school, called Autauga Virtual Academy, for the 2024-25 school year.‘It’s actually going to help keep teacher units because we’re seeing students come back to our county who had left because the virtual option was not available,” said Autauga Virtual Academy Principal Gloria Jerkins.

Federal funds will be used to start the school, but once it reaches 250 students, it will begin receiving state funding and can begin to hire local staff. The school will follow the Alabama Department of Education’s curriculum standards, putting it on par with all in-person schools in the state. There are also plans to hold in-person events throughout the year to give students an opportunity to socialize.
