Ask ten people what their favorite national park is and you’ll likely get ten different answers. However, if you ask them what park is most famous, most will probably agree on Yellowstone.

One animal class that is somewhat underrepresented at Yellowstone compared to other national parks are reptiles. This makes Yellowstone less interesting to a herpetologist like myself, if no less beautiful. Though not known as one of the deadliest rattlesnakes, the venom produced by prairie rattlesnakes is potent enough to kill an adult human. However, the animal that causes the most human injuries in the park is the bison. Bison are unpredictable and can sprint three times faster than humans. The National Park Service recommends maintaining a distance of at least 25 yards from bison at all times.

It's important not to hold your ground if charged at. Instead, immediately walk or run away from the animal.) is also found within Yellowstone National Park. Known for its impressive size and distinctive appearance, bullsnakes are harmless constrictors that play a crucial role in controlling rodent populations. They can reach lengths of up to six feet or more, with a patterned appearance that includes brown, yellow, and cream-colored scales.
