A Nigerian, Sandie Okoro, has been appointed as the first female chancellor of Birmingham University in the United Kingdom ., said he is always thrilled by the remarkable achievements of fellow Nigerians who have continued to distinguish themselves on the global stage.
“I would firstly love to celebrate a Nigerian-British lawyer, Sandie Okoro, who has just been appointed the new Chancellor of the University of Birmingham, and the first-ever woman to hold the admirable position,” he wrote on X. “She has, before now, held many highly placed positions, where she has continued to fight against injustice and promote equality in society.”
He congratulated both Okoro and Achebe for achieving these feats and for remaining good ambassadors of our dear nation, Nigeria. Meanwhile, Okoro is a prominent lawyer and equal rights activist who is the eighth chancellor of the University of Birmingham since it was founded in 1900.
