Ms Keegan, born in Leigh and raised in Huyton, served as Education Secretary in Rishi Sunak's cabinet. She lost her Chichester seat to the Liberal Democrats with Jess Brown-Fuller taking the seat.
Ms Brown-Fuller won 25,540 votes to Ms Keegan's 13,268 in a comprehensive win for the Lib Dems. If the exit poll is correct, the Conservatives will have their lowest number of MPs on record. The Liberal Democrats are forecast to win 61 seats, Reform UK 13 and the Green Party two.
