A Texas biologist will make her fifth appearance as an expert on Discovery Channel’s Shark Week next Thursday. Kesley Banks, who works at the Harte Research Institute for Gulf of Mexico Studies at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, can be seen in an episode called “Caught! When Sharks Attack,” the institute announced. The show will air at 8 p.m. Central on July 11.

On Padre Island, endangered baby sea turtles take their first swim This will be the eighth year a Harte researcher is featured on the annual Shark Week event, which this year will include 21 hours of shark programming. It starts Sunday, July 7, and runs through Saturday, July 13. Greg Stunz, HRI’s executive director, said the institute’s participation in Shark Week helps address misconceptions about sharks and “can inspire future generations to respect and admire these remarkable animals.
