There's not long to wait now to find out how your Year 6 pupil got on in their SATs tests – but how important are the results?

Pupils and parents will this month find out the results of the Year 6 SATs tests. From Monday – 13 May – to Thursday, 16 May, thousands of pupils across England sat the Standard Assessment Tests .But are they important for your child and do they have an impact on the classes and sets they are put into in secondary school?

They do not define your child's future, but the results can be used to initially determine which set of maths and english your child is place into in secondary school. 'That said, if your child's SATs don't reflect where they're at and they end up in the wrong group for what they need, the school should be able to move them relatively quickly.'More than anything, your child is only 10 or 11 so keep remembering that these tests do not define them or even their academic 'career' ahead.
