Rebecca Joynes, 30, of Pensby Road in Thingwall, Wirral, groomed one boy with a shopping trip to the Trafford Centre before taking him back to her apartment and having sex with him when he was 15. She then fell pregnant with another teenage pupil.
Following a two week trial, the seven men and five women of the jury found her guilty on all counts on Friday, May 17. Standing in the dock, Joynes closed her eyes and grimaced, before she began visibly shaking as the guilty verdicts were returned. Joynes was seen crying in the dock as she was granted bail until her sentence date. Judge Kate Cornell told Joynes: “You know you must be here at court for sentence, and have to serve whatever sentence I pass.
Judge Cornell implied Joynes should expect to be jailed for her offending. She warned: “There is a baby involved here who has done nothing wrong - you must be under no illusions on what is going to happen. Bail can be granted on the same conditions as before."Yesterday, Joynes was seen spending her final moments of freedom at a retail park in Chester. She was spotted wearing a baseball cap as she got into a white car.
